The Midland Highlanders are a bagpipe and drum band located in Midland, Michigan. We are a family oriented band which re-creates the sights and sounds of an 18th century pipe band by using accurate reproduction instruments. With rope tension drums and the Great Highland Bagpipe the Midland Highlanders thunders in the same way as pipe bands of old. Experience the pipes and drums the way they were meant to be heard! Formed in 2002 by three like minded players, the band has grown to over 10 times our original numbers. We are one of only 2 bands in the United States which recreates the style and sound of a pipe band from the 18th century. Our unique blend of modern and ancient techniques, musical selections, and interpretations of time honored musical styles have entertained and thrilled audiences all over lower Michigan. With an eye to the future, the Midland Highlanders proudly keeps alive the music, history, and traditions of a bygone era, so we may never lose such a precious and important part of our world's musical past.
